Firefighters battled two Multiple-Alarm fires on in Queens on Wednesday night including one were firefighters narrowly escaped through a window as the room lit up with fire.
While firefighters were battling a five-alarm fire on 101st Avenue in a contractor supply store, a short time later a second fire started at Nemets Motors, a vacant auto dealership on Hillside Avenue.
Firefighters from Ladder 150 in Hollis seemed to gain the upper hand and entered the second floor, but were forced to retreat from a window as conditions quickly deteriorated, according to the Queens Courier.
Fire operations transitioned to a defensive attack using tower ladders to extinguish the fire. The fire department said 33 units and 138 firefighters were on scene battling this blaze.
